Abstract:

This paper contains some observations on homily on Confessing sins inscribed with the name of St John Chrysostom (inc.: Исповъданїемъ бо строупи дш͠внїи исцелають. и връд плотныи ѡбавлаемъ врачю исцълъетъ…), presented in the Church Slavonic Prologue in four versions for September 26, 29, 30 and December 11 The most likely this homily is borrowed from the Zlatostruy, namely from the 15 chapter of the „Izbor collected shortly about Adam‟. This text is found also in the Iz- bornik 1076, f. 242–244v. The study showed that versions 1 and 2, presented in Pskov’s and Kiev St. Sophia’s redactions of Prologue, are taken independently from the short redaction of Zlatostruy. The version 1 copied from the source without changes, the version 2 is added with the brief appeal to listeners/readers. The related versions 3 and 4 revealed in the expanded redaction of the Prologue are borrowed from the long redaction of Zlatostruy. The text of the version 3 is quite the same as the original. The version 4 with an additional appeal to listeners/readers, presented in some copies of the expanded redaction of the Prologue on September 30, reflects the following stage of editing of the text (towards the version 3). The homily on Confessing sins in the Izbornik 1076 evidently is an independent and not connected with the Prologue’s versions extraction from the short redaction of Zlatostruy.
