ON HYPER-CORRECT DUPLICATION OF VOICE LETTERS IN THE MODERN RUSSIAN ORTHOGRAPHIC SPACE

The article discusses the hyper-correct doubling of vowels in modern Russian writing. Based on the material of the resources of the modern Runet, a corpus of words was revealed, and the analysis of this list allowed us to draw conclusions about the reasons for the emergence of such spellings. Firstly, it can be a language game that distinguishes written colloquial language (for example: баальшой, воолшебно, неет, буудет). However, the large number of spellings of double vowels cannot be motivated by a language game. The main position of the appearance of such errors is the border of the prefix and the root, and the most common is the duplication of the letter o (for example: вооплотить, доопустим, изообразить, разообраться, сооблазнительно). We believe that these spellings are based on the combination of oo, historically conditioned by bookish pronunciation, in the orthographically correct spellings, such as дообследовать, пообщаться, пообедать, прообраз. In addition, duplication occurs where this letter is written at the end of the prefix and at the beginning of the root, such as вообразить, вооружить, сообщить, соорудить, соотносить. Much less often, a double a is found in this position (for example: заабрать, наамного). However, there are much fewer literate spellings with aa combination in Russian, and only with the prefix за-, for example: заахать, заарканить, заархивировать. Hypercorrect doubling of о is accompanied by compensatory elimination of another doubling (воостание, воостановить, воозрение) or a combination of vowels (соорентировать) if there are such in the word. Another mechanism for the emergence of erroneous spellings of double vowels is contamination, which is found in formations like вообщем (from вообще and в общем) and координально (from кардинально and координаты). In some words, the effect of incorrect spelling on pronunciation is noted.
