LINGUISTIC CREATIVITY IN THE RUSSIAN TRANSLATIONS OF MARTIN HEIDEGGER

This article looks at the problems related to the translation into the Russian language of the works of the 20th century German philosopher Martin Heidegger. The author has given an overview of some characteristic ways the philosopher builds up his conceptual framework and problems with its translation into the Russian language arising as a consequence. Basic strategies of translation have been laid out, as presented by V.V. Bibikhin, A.V. Mikhailov and some others.

Further on based on the most typical examples, namely such notions as «Dasein», «Ereignis», «Man», «Ge-stell» and others, the article demonstrates different ways the translators solved the two-fold task of translating Heidegger’s ideas into Russian and presenting his experiments with the German language in Russian.

Linguistic creativity in Russian translations of Heidegger’s works is the inevitable response to the ambivalent challenge of his texts. The translator should first understand what exactly the philosopher’s new terms mean and only then find or create words appropriate to the phenomena in question in the Russian language, reproducing at the same time the rootrelated connections running throughout the original text.
