A FRAGMENT OF AN UNKNOWN SLAVONIC TRANSLATION OF ISAAC THE SYRIAN

 The paper considers the excerpt from an unknown Slavonic translation of one of the Homilies by Isaac the Syrian (about half of the 28th homily of the Greek version of the First Tome), found in a copy of the 2nd quarter of the 17th century. In the manuscript, the text is falsely attributed to Theodore of Edessa and turned into a preface to his Hundred Chapters. The translation is replete with errors and probably made by an inexperienced bookman (bookmen?), poorly acquainted with written Greek. Lexical features and the surrounding texts in the manuscript allow us to connect the origin of the translation with Old Russia and date it back to pre-Mongol time.
