EXPERIMENTS IN A LITERARY TEXT: BASED ON THE RESULTS OF THE COMPETITION “MR. WIND”
Abstract:
The article deals with examples of word-making in modern prose of small genres, presented in the section “Dyr Bul Shyl” of the almanac “Mr. Wind”. The objective of the study is to trace the basic techniques of creating neologisms in the texts.
Among them, there is a graphic separation of the word after etymological reconstruction or decomposition according to the principle of rebus morphemic division, simulating automatic text analysis. Deeper techniques of creating a sound image echo the Khlebnikov’s ideas, who used the merging and overlapping of roots — “skornen’e” of words to create new meanings. Such examples generate various associations that thicken the cloud of meanings, but do not give unambiguous solutions. Of particular interest are quasi-borrowings — formations that refer to sound combinations of other languages, but do not have direct lexical correspondences. Another technique of Khlebnikov, “internal declension”, is freely used in poetic language for a more fl exible expression of meaning by an unusual combination of word-forming components. Changing the familiar appearance of the word creates the sound of an unknown “Slavic dialect”.
An important issue of the study is the attribution of the considered examples of verbal creativity to Russian neologisms — units that native speakers can understand and recognize as new words of their language. Apparently, successful examples of poetic word-making give clues to their understanding.
