WORDFORMATION-ETYMOLOGYCAL COMMENTARIES ON «SELIGER. MATERIALS ON RUSSIAN DIALECTOLOGY. DICTIONARY», ISSUES 1-5

Investigation of irregular changes in lexicon of different chronological levels is actual for modern Slavic etymology. Dialectal lexical materials are valuable source of such information. The study tests irregular phonetic and structural changes reflected in words included in five issues of « Seliger. Materials on Russian Dialectology. Dictionary»: выскодь ‘the tree rooted out by wind’ (analogical change of выкидь), затёк ‘gap in stuff’ (irregular analogical derivative of заткать), замуглить ‘it is drizzling’ (irregular analogical change of -мглить), дать зною ‘destroy’ (semantic attraction to paronym ныть, ною), меновать ‘rename’ (folksetymology / morphological reform of переименовать), мина ‘period’ (irregular derivative of миновать), пязень ‘snap’ (change of пядь with distant assimilation to зень: от зени две пязени).
