Abstract:

The personal pronouns in sing. and reflexive pronoun had suppletive stems (Gen.=Acc. - мене, тебе, себе (with ending -е), Dat.=Loc. - мънѣ, тобѣ/тебѣ, собѣ/себѣ) in Old Russian language. The modern linguistic geography’s data show that in the most of the Russian dialects the suppletion is destroyed. The article tries to answer the questions: when the changes began, what were the causes of stems interaction and whether the causes were the same for all pronouns. The probable time of stems generalization determines by means of the Old Russian literature monuments, where Gen.=Acc. forms with o in the root (тобе (-я), собе (-я)) don’t prevail over forms with e; it hardly could be the result of overcorrection (as A.G. Khaburgaev explained) and besides such an artificial form couldn’t be wide-spread in the official documents and survive till nowadays in the dialects. It can only be the analogy within the paradigm. The same factor resulted in the appearance of Gen.=Acc. form in pronouns of the 1st person мня(-е) (after the fall of reduced weak vowels as a common phonetic process). The Dat.=Loc. form with e in root менѣ, it could arise only as a result of analogy between the paradigms (as тебѣ, себѣ). The stems equating of personal and reflexive pronouns ended by XIII c.
