THE DATIVE SUBJECT IN THE OSKOL DIALECT OF ROGOVATOE VILLAGE

The article investigates the functioning of the prepositionless dative case in subject position in the dialect of Rogovatoye, a village in the Starooskolsky District of Belgorod Region, on the basis of data from two dialect corpora: an unpublished corpus of transcribed texts and an electronic spoken corpus, totaling approximately 200,000 word tokens. The study examines valency-driven dative constructions, including those with experiencer verbs, modal predicates, predicatives in -o/-e, adjectives, predicative nouns, and predicative phrases, as well as constructionally determined dative forms in infinitival and impersonal passive constructions. Comparative analysis with corpus data for Standard Russian, as documented by A. A. Bonch-Osmolovskaya, reveals systematic divergences between the standard language and the dialect. Characteristic dialectal features include the use of the predicative nado with a nominative argument, dative-subject valency in a range of full and short-form adjectives lacking this pattern in contemporary Standard Russian, and the complete absence of the construction “dative + nuzhno + infinitive”.
