ON THE QUESTION OF LEXICALIZATION OF PRONUNCIATION WITH DIERESIS OF UNSTRESSED VOWEL IN SOUTH RUSSIAN DIALECTS
Abstract:
The article is devoted to the reflection in lexicographic practice of the reduction of unstressed vowels to zero in eastern southern Russian dialects. The article shows that the lexicographic representation of vowel dieresis cases in dialect dictionaries is not always consistent. Firstly, the criteria that authors use when deciding on the lexicalization of a particular dialect pronunciation are not always clear. Secondly, the graphic and or thographic principles for recording specific dialect words are not obvious. The article proposes to distinguish, on the one hand, the lexical or morphological attachment of the vowel dieresis to a specific word or morpheme, and, on the other hand, the actual lexicalization of pronunciation without a vowel.
