PROBLEMS OF OLD FOREIGN LANGUAGE VOCABULARY DESCRIPTION IN RUSSIAN HISTORICAL LEXICOGRAPHY

The paper discusses the complications in describing foreign language vocabulary in Russian historical lexicography, conditioned by existence of lexemes with different degrees of adaptation in the Old Russian script, as well as the presence of foreign language inclusions in translated texts. The study of this lexical layer in the "Dictionary of the Russian Language of the 11th-17th centuries" showed inconsistency in the selection of foreign words and the disorder of their lexicographic processing. The omissions of foreign language lexemes were also identified. This is compensated by the inclusion of new dictionary descriptions in this work.
