ANDREY BELY’S LINGUISTIC INNOVATION IN TERMS OF THEORY OF LINGUISTIC CREATIVITY

The article examines word-creation techniques in the texts of A. Bely in the light of the theory of linguistic creativity, developed by linguists in recent years. In this case, linguistic creativity is understood as an individual author’s system for transforming linguistic means. Of all the levels of linguistic creativity in Bely’s texts, the levels of word-formation and syntax, or rather their interconnection, are especially active. The author analyzes examples of the writer’s neologisms in texts of diff erent genres (poetic, fi ctional, theoretical, essayistic, philosophical) in their closest contexts and syntactic unfolding. Both language creativity and discourse creativity are at play in Bely’s oeuvre. Language creativity encompasses all levels of language with which a writer works in a variety of genres of texts. Discourse creativity brings to the fore the individual  param eters of linguistic creativity. In the fi eld of word formation and neology, for artistic discourse (and, accordingly, for aesthetic linguistic creativity), the phonetic and rhythmic levels are more active, and for theoretical discourses (in treatises, essays), conceptual (heuristic) creativity is more relevant, gravitating towards term creation. Word-creation for A. Bely is a transitional process between fi gurative expressiveness and conceptual knowledge.
