THE WORD NERUKOPOZHATNYI AS A SYMBOL OF OUR TIME

The paper discusses the semantics of the compound words rukopozhatnyi / nerukopozhatnyi / rukonepozhatnyi and its derivational synonyms. It makes an attempt to find out whether these words are ne- ologisms. The paper covers the problems of their authorship, It explains why these words have become popular in recent times and why they are widely used in the Internet communication. Reasoning from the analysis of the meaning of the words rukopozhatnyi / nerukopozhatnyi / rukonepozhatnyi, their connotations and the usage of these words in modern Russian, it comes to the conclusion that these words will in all likelihood be included in the Russian dictionaries.
