Abstract:

The paper introduces and publishes a Slavonic anonymous commentary on the dogmatika in the eight tones previously unknown to researchers. It has been revealed in two copies of the 15th–16th centuries included in the miscellany named ʻBiserieʼ (ʻPearlsʼ). The content of the text allows to suggest that it was created in Old Russia in the pre-Mongol times and was written by the same author as the epistle with a commentary on the heirmoses of Theophany that we have recently introduced. The monument enriches the corpus of the Old Russian indigenous exegetical writings and our knowledge of the reception of Byzantine hymnography in Russia.
