THE WORD STRESS AS A UNIT OF POETIC LEXICON

Abstract:

The article analyzes the word stress (udarenie) — one of the units of the poetic lexicon associated with the science of language on the corpus material. This lexeme is not widely used in Russian poetry, however, it is found throughout its history, it is noted repeatedly by a number of authors, and reflects the poetic understanding of “stress” itself. In poetic texts, the word appears in connection with the problem of the correct ness / incorrectness of the stress statement, which is conveyed by lexemes with positive and negative semantics, and other linguistic tools. At the same time, some non-standard ness of stress is considered by poets not as a disadvantage, but as a distinctive sign that characterizes a person or a group of people based on a certain feature (for example, on geographical one). The examples considered clearly demonstrate the author’s reflection on the peculiarities of Russian accent, which is demonstrated by intra-text comments that explain with what stress a particular word should be pronounced attract attention. The article includes examples of the juxtaposition of the word stress with the words of its thematic group, its use as part of tropes, in a strong position of rhyme, etc., demonstrating the potential of this word as a unit of poetic language, are noted.
