Abstract:

Language norm as a dynamic phenomenon is defi ned by intralinguistic and extralin guistic factors. Intralinguistic reasons for the change of morphological norms are due to the action of the laws of analogy and preservation of linguistic eff ort. External factors infl uencing the dynamics of norms are related to the realization of the law of linguistic traditions, as well as to the antinomy of usus and language possibilities.

The dynamics of morphological, as well as any other norms, is refl ected diachroni cally in dictionaries as a result of codifi ers’ activity. This article analyzes some word forms recorded in orthological dictionaries of different years. The comparison of the same forms, which received diff erent normative characteristic in these dictionaries (e. g. “acceptable” or “incorrect”), as well as changes in the word form use presented by the authors of different dictionaries, demonstrates the processes occurring in the fi eld of norming of the Russian language and the dynamics of codifi cation.

The actual problem of fi xing morphological norms of the modern Russian literary language in the dictionaries is the lack of large-scale testing of Russian speakers of different age and social groups. In our opinion, only the results of such kind of testing can reflect the emerging trends in norms dynamic, which subsequently should be recorded in dictionaries.
