GOOSEBERRY COLOUR IN THE COLOUR CONCEPTOSPHERE OF THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE: FROM LEXICOGRAPHIC TO ADVERTISING DISCOURSE

Abstract:

The article presents a reconstruction of a fragment of the colour concept sphere of the floristic space of the Russian language, based on the texts of various discourses (lexicographic, associative, belle-lettres, advertising), using the example of the functioning of coloristic descriptions of gooseberry. The quantitative and qualitative composition of colour terms, signifi cant in the coloristic description of the plant, is established; the colour dominant is revealed, representing the modern standard of colour perception of gooseberries (green); unique coloristic descriptions of gooseberries are described, bearing the imprint of the individual author’s colour world image of a linguistic personality (caramel, mother-of-pearl, etc.); features of combinability of coloristic and phytonymic vocabulary are revealed; the functionality of gooseberry color descriptions (from the informative, identifying function to the emotionally expressive function), their role in the construction of colour spatial and temporal dimensions, i.e. color chronotope, are described; on the basis of the analysis of the language material, the activity and productivity of creating new colour terms based on the coloristic description of the gooseberry are stated; spheres of functioning of new colour terms are revealed; variability in the interpretation of colour meaning both at the diachronic and synchronic levels is noted. The results obtained in the course of the study can make some contribution to the creation of a complete version of the colour concept sphere of the Russian language.
