AVANT-GARDE EXPERIMENT WITH PHRASEOLOGY: CHARACTERISTICS OF EXPERIMENTAL MODIFICATIONS IN THE DICTIONARY OF A NEW TYPE

The paper deals with the features of linguistic experimentation by the Russian Cubo-Futurists (and authors close to them) in the fi eld of phraseology and idiomatics. Themajority of existing dictionaries intend to describe lexical innovations in the language of the Russian literary avant-garde. The article presents the project of the dictionary “Idiomatics of the Russian avant-garde (Cubo-Futurism)”, which is aimed at singling out and describing “avant-garde idioms proper” and “traditional” phraseological units in the Russian Avant-garde texts. We describe in detail modifi cations of “traditional” phraseological units including “occasional” and “experimental” types of transformations.  The avant-garde word-creation has the specifi city of meaning-making mechanisms and the orientation towards the multiplicity of linguistic innovations’ interpretations. Those avant-garde language features make it impossible to apply the “classical” dictionary in- terpretation of units. In this regard, the development of special labels and zones for the avant-garde idioms describing is particularly important. The dictionary label system includes the following types of experimental modifi cations’ characteristics: “experimental alogical”, “experimental interlevel”, “experimental deautomatizing” and “experimental intersemiotic”. The article describes the “zone of experimental modifi cations’ characteristics” aimed at the reconstruction of components included in contaminated phraseological units. It contains two subzones, such as “characteristics of Russian-language modifications” and “characteristics of foreign-language modifi cations”.
