Abstract:

The article describes the well-known Maurice Rheims’s dictionary «Wild words. Dictionary of words unknown to dictionaries. Writers of the XIX and XX centuries» (Rheims M.«Les Mots sauvages. Dictionnaires des mots inconnus des dictionnaires. Écrivains О многоавторском словаре Мориса Реймса 243 des 19-e et 20-e siècles»). This neographic work continued the tradition of publishing dictionaries of the language of writers in France, where the 17th century began the process of rationing and codification of the literary language contributed to the emergence of author lexicography. Maurice Rheims collected individual authorial neologisms of the French writers of the 19th and the first half of the 20th century, calling these words sauvages ‘wild, not domesticated’, ‘appearing spontaneously’, ‘illegal’. The originality of this dictionary is due, in particular, to the fact that its author is not a philologist, but a wellknown art critic and writer. Collecting his collection of author’s words, many of which are real works of writers’ art, Maurice Rheims drew attention to the fact that these «wild words» have a certain style resemblance to the works of art created at the same time. The article analyzes the vocabulary concept, its macrostructure and microstructure.
