Lexemes meaning ‘holiday’ in serbian and croatian dialects

The present paper describes the semantics and geography of Serbian and Croatian lexemes meaning 'holiday' *svȩtъkъ, *svȩtьcь, *porzdьnikъ, *bolgъ dьnь and their derivates. The word *svȩtъkъ is also represented in West and East Slavic dialects, while other words are South Slavic dialectisms. The main characteristics of these words is the perception of holiday as a non-working day.
