Abstract:

The Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior on Nereditsa in Novgorod (1198) was severely damaged during the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945). After its restoration, numerous graffiti were found on the walls and pillars of the church. This article analyzes ten graffiti located in the south-east and north-west walls and the pillars on the north wall. The paleography and language of these inscriptions are dated 13–15th centuries. They show the basic repertoire preserved in the church inscriptions.
