Abstract:

The article is devoted to the analysis of the syntactic structure and grammatical semantics of the sentences involved in the creation of architectonic and metric space of the series “Twilight” in 1842. Among the complex structures there are more asyndetic binary and multipart formations, which reflects the grammatical trend which is typical for the poetry in general: asyndetic rows allow to create extended para- or hypo-taxic rows while saving metric space because of the usage of asyndeton by the poet, they also create a “nontransparent”, not enough differentiated, semantically syncretic phrase. Although the extent of the percent of distributors of the grammatical center in a series of “Twilight” is very high and leads to greater average length of the phrase, homogeneous rows, complicated constructions and also the deployment of poly-predicative constructions, play an important role in filling in metric space.

The main features of the syntactic organization of the series “Twilight” allow to reveal the archaic tendency to structural-semantic and rhythm-melodic complexity in the poetic grammar (and also in vocabulary, word usage) of the late period of work of Boratynskii, to the transformation of language and the style of “poet of thought” in the direction of its simplicity, clarity which is caused by both painful and innovative search of “metaphysical” language. “Cryptography” of the late period of work of Baratynskii requires thoughtful, leisurely reading, the knowledge of cultural traditions, because the poetics of “poet of thought” most clearly shows the features that brings it closer to the era of baroque and classic ode, as well as to the style of “weaving of ornate words” of ancient Russian scribes, the “dark” language of the Biblical Prophecy, the church sermon, the spiritual hymn and the psalm.
