Abstract:

The paper deals with the semantic analysis of the lexico-phraseological units such as елань, поле, луг, кулига during the process of forming of the lexical-phraseological system of a certain Siberian (Tomsk) old residents’ dialects in the XVII-XXth centuries, ascertaining them as being territorially marked/unmarked in different periods of the dialect’s history and defining the relevance of this characteristics for the patois’ lexical-phraseological system during its formation. The formation of the lexico-semantic paradigm поле - елань - луг - кулига in Tomsk dialects during the first half of the XVIIth century is described in the article, as well as how a change in lexical meaning of just one element of the paradigm led to a shift in the whole paradigm during the period from 1650s up to the XXth century. The status of territorially marked and general Russian vocabulary is confirmed to remain the same during the four-century history of the dialects: поле, луг are general Russian words and кулига, кулижка, елань are local varieties. It is ascertained that, firstly, general Russian words as well as regional variants explicated the most important ideas about newly discovered Siberian territories and their convenience for tillage and farming; and secondly, that regionalisms express more accurately the peculiarities of farm lands in Western Siberia. The process of forming and modification of space lexical semantics in the lexico-phraseological system of a certain patois is interpreted in this paper as the process of language conceptualization of Siberian area during the XVII-XXth centuries.
