OKANYE IN THE DIALECT OF THE VILLAGE OF SKNYATINO TVER REGION
Abstract:
The article is devoted to the analysis of the specifics of pre-stressed vocalism after hard consonants in the dialect of village Sknyatino of the Kalyazinsky district of the Tver region and surrounding settlements. The research material was audio recordings of native speakers made during the 2019 expedition. Partial okanye, characteristic of the dialects of the Vladimir-Volga group, is not preserved equally well by all informants. An analysis of the acoustic characteristics of the vowels of two informants of different ages showed a tendency to neutralize the vowels /o/ and /a/ in the first pre-stressed syllable after hard consonants in both, but to a greater extent in the younger informant. The objectives of the study were to identify the conditions conducive to the most stable preservation of the pre-stressed vowel [o]. To do this, the following working hypotheses were tested: 1) the vowel [o] in the first pre-stressed syllable is better preserved in position after labial, velar or [l]; 2) the vowel [o] in the first stressed syllable is better preserved if the labialized vowel [o] or [u] is in the next stressed syllable; 3) the vowel [o] in the first prestressed syllable is better preserved in those word forms that carry a phrasal accent, and worse in those that are not under phrasal accent; 4) the vowel [o] in the first pre-stressed syllable may be better preserved in any of the morphemes of the word (for example, in the prefix). Of the four hypotheses, only the third one was confirmed, about the influence of the phrasal position of the word form on the pre-stressed vowel. Thus, we believe that initially the tendency to neutralize the vowels in the first pre-stressed syllable after hard consonants in dialects with partial okanye covers word forms outside the phrasal accent, and then can spread to other positions.
