IZI KATKA, VAN LAV, DOBBY SVOBODEN AND OTHER COLLOQUIAL NEOLOGISMS: SOURCES AND MECHANISMS OF IDIOMATIZATION

In modern colloquial speech, there are numerous set expressions that have become widespread in the last two decades and have not yet become and, perhaps, will never become part of the literary Russian language. The sources of these expressions can be: youth, gaming, criminal and other jargons (izi katka; van lav; zaskamit’ mamonta; po fanu); quotes from fi lms, TV series, jokes (Dobby svoboden; vypuskajte Krakena), speeches of famous people (haili laikli; deneg net, no vy derzhites’); communication in blogs and social networks (beloje pal’to; bombit’ Voronezh; spasibo, kep). In some cases, these new expressions are a calque from English or a transliteration of an English word combination.
The borrowing of set expressions from other languages has happened before, it is not new (see fi fty-fi fty, cherchez la femme, tabula rasa, and many others). Transformation of quotes into idioms is also well studied. However, today fi lms, TV series, and other video materials are more often used as a source of quotations instead of literary works. In addition, if earlier proverbs and sayings were a constant source of colloquial idioms, today Internet memes, online communication, and computer games act as such. 
This rich linguistic material cannot but arouse the interest of the researcher. The article presents the sources of some of these expressions and traces the history of their appearance and distribution in speech. Although all the expressions under consideration are undoubtedly phraseological, the degree of their idiomaticity varies greatly. It is shown that some expressions could already be recognized as idioms, while others remain collocations, clichés or quotations. The mechanisms of idiomatization of the colloquial expressions under consideration are analyzed.
