ON RUSS. DIAL. PEREMACHKA (AN ADDITION TO ESSJA 42)

Russian dialectal peremachka ‘changeable weather’, peremachki pl. ‘impassability’, scarcely attested across geographically disparate areas, are tentatively identifi ed as continuants of *per(ъ)jьmačьka, which in its turn would be a derivative of *per(ъ)jьmačь (*per(ъ)(n’)ji/ьmati ‘to accept, intercept’), an entry in the recent issue of ESSJa primarily based on the West Slavic data.
