SLOVENIAN BIC ‘RAM’ AS AN OLD SLAVIC AGENT NOUN

The article presents an etymological interpretation of a Slovenian animal name bic ‘баран’, which is unattested in other languages with the same meaning. It goes back to an original meaning ‘one that beats’ and belongs with *biti ‘to beat, hit, etc.’.
