THE DICTIONARY OF ROOT WORD FAMILIES AS A TOOL FOR IDENTIFYING THE DERIVATIONAL FEATURES OF A. P. CHEKHOV’S IDIOSTYLE

In the search system of the database of the project “Chekhov’s Language Dictionary”, being implemented at the Institute of the Russian Language, there is an option to search for word families which are a collection of single-root words with vivid semantic connections. This option allows advanced searches in the database, in particular for words with alternating roots. Besides, this option is an additional tool for in-depth study of the writer’s work, in particular, for identifying ways of forming derivatives, including occasionalisms, characteristic word-formative morphemes, which ultimately will complement the picture of A. P. Chekhov’s idiostyle.
