FORTY YEARS NEXT TO LEONID LEONIDOVICH KASATKIN
Abstract:
Some time ago, Leonid Leonidovich Kasatkin, a well — known Russian linguist, a specialist in the field of Russian phonetics and dialectology, passed away. The article describes various aspects of his scientific activity, primarily in the field of phonology, orthoepy and lexicography. For a long time he headed the Moscow Phonological School, having clarified and reformulated many of its provisions (the division of positional alternations into positionally conditioned and positionally attached; the separation of the concepts of differential signs of phonemes and integral signs of sounds; the use of the phonological description of the concept of opposition in practice; the introduction of the concepts of archiphoneme, superphoneme, functional load of phonemes and others. Russian Russian orthoepy created a holistic concept of Russian orthoepy, introduced the concept of orthoepy, formulated the differences between phonetics and orthoepy, developed a system of orthoepic positions that determine the implementation of phonemes in various orthoepic conditions. L.L. Kasatkin proved himself as a talented lexicographer, leading the author’s team of the “Great Orthoepic Dictionary of the Russian Language”. This is a new type of academic dictionary, which is a fundamental set of Russian literary pronunciation. L.L. Kasatkin was an outstanding teacher who was able to explain the most complex scientific concepts in a popular way and instill love for his subject.
