Review of: Saskia Pronk-Tiethoff. / The Germanic loanwords in Proto-Slavic. Amsterdam-New-York. Rodopi, 2013 316 str. (Leiden Studies in Indo-European 20)

The review presents the newest monograph on the topic of Germanic loanwords in Common Slavic. First, we give a brief overview of its contents, then discuss some general questions concerning the topic: mutual relationship between the etymological and the accentological analyses; new explanations of some words given by the author; the question of criteria for classifying a word as belonging to the Common Slavic period; the use of relevant literature in the monograph; the relevance of the excurses present in the book; the question of the localization of the Germanic and the Slavic homelands.
