ON AUTOMATIC RECOGNIZING OF METER AND RHYTHM OF RUSSIAN VERSE: MATHEMATICAL MODELS AND ALGORITHMS
Abstract:
The paper defines formal structures that correspond to classical verse meters and rhythms. It also defines some concepts that are necessary to describe a relationship between meter and rhythm and develop algorithms of automatic recognition of verse meters and rhythms. The author suggests the series of assertions on relations between numeric characteristics of meter and rhythm. In the paper, the author defines a representation of the rhythm and meter of a verse line by means of a bit string. The paper especially discusses problems and difficulties that relate to non-classical meters of Russian verses (dolnik, taktovik). The paper also considers methods of using an accent dictionary and morphological dictionary in the for the automatic recognition of verse meters and rhythms. In this paper, one can find a short description of an algorithm for recognizing of the meter and rhythm of a verse; the paper discusses some modules of this algorithm more detailed. The paper deals with the development of a software for the automatic analysis of verse meter and rhythm, those stages of this development, which are already completed, problems that developers ought to solve, tasks that they ought to set. The paper ends with a discussion of some open (and rather difficult) problems that relate to the automatic analysis of the meter and rhythm of verse.
