The evolution of semantics of protoslavic verb *sědti / *saditi in Slavic languages
2018. № 1 (15), 188-192
Abstract:
The article deals with the semantics of the protoslavic *sědti/*saditi ‘to master someone, to cover, to subordinate someone’. Analysis of the lexemes with this root in slavic languages allows to come to the conclusion that it’s semantics is rather productive. Thus, the slovak verb posadnút’ ‘to master, to subordinate the power’ is not a hapax but represents the development of this meaning.
