DIALECTS AND BULGARIAN DIALECTOLOGY IN THE BEGINNING OF XXI CENTURY

On the basis of personal observations and researches the Bulgarian dialect situation today has been analyzed and the conclusion for vitality and functionality of the dialects has been laid — a basic mean of communication of the local communities. The expansion of the function for the dialect directing to the literary has been pointed out — and its notable presence in the original fiction and translation literature, on the Internet, etc. A survey of the achievements of the Bulgarian dialectology and linguistic geography since the beginning of the century until today has been done.
