Abstract:

This article studies Boris Ryzhy’s lexical heritage in quantitative and qualitative aspects. The analysis of the poetic system is carried out by compiling lexical combinations (companion words), as well as interpreting materials under study when considering the context. The search and identification of companion words were carried out using the computer program “Hypertext Search for Companion Words in Author’s Texts” developed by representatives of the Smolensk Philological School of Professor V. S. Baevsky. As part of the study of lexical combinations on the material of 513 poems (46 201 word forms), it was discovered that the Boris Ryzhy’s poetic system is characterized by companion words that are repeated in different poetic texts; in particular, six-component, seven-component and eight-component lexical combinations were registered. The examples of interpretation of lexical combinations presented in this article demonstrate the effectiveness of this method in the analysis of the poetic corpus under study. Companion words are structure-forming components based on the principle of repetition. It should be emphasized that the role of this repetition cannot be called formal. It performs a meaning-forming function, which implies the study of lexical combinations in the focus of quantitative-qualitative methodology. Thanks to the analysis of lexical combinations, the central motives of poems, imagery and individual author associations are explicated.
