Abstract:

The article examines the lexicalization of affixes, i. e. their transformation into an autonomous word, using the material of modern Russian prose. Different types of mor phemes are subject to lexicalization in modern prose texts: prefixes, suffixes, affixoids, inflections. It is noted that prefixes most actively undergo lexicalization used in modern prose. The analysis of the material allowed us to conclude that in modern fiction, lexicalization of morphemes has noticeably become more active compared to the literature of the previous period. “Emancipation” of affixes is often preceded by reflection on their meaning and their isolation in the composition of single-structure words. Lexicalized morphemes condense the semantics of the word stems combined with them and act as hyperonyms in relation to derivative words that include the same affixal formant. Such condensation of semantics contributes to their use as key words of a literary text, in particular, their use in the title position. Particular attention in the article is paid to the semantics of titles represented by lexicalized affixes in the works of A. Slapovsky — “Nedo” and Yu. Buida — “Shchina”, where these linguistic units serve as unique cultural symbols significant for the Russian linguistic world image.
