RUSSIAN COLLOQUIAL SPEECH IN THE INTERNET: FROM THE CATEGORY OF COLLOQUIALITY TO “NEW ORALITY”
Abstract:
The emergence and improvement of new digital technologies has given an impetus to the development of interactive dialog of Internet users, which in turn has given rise to the phenomenon of new orality and awakened the creative potential of the category of colloquia lity. A new (media) version of language is being formed in the Internet space, realizing the “new orality” of the Internet era. To indicate the emotional tone of their online messages, users actively include multimedia signs, emoji, and emoticons in the text, forming a new canon of communication in the digital environment. Various types of phonological writing and techniques of imitating the spontaneity and orality of the author’s speech are also becoming frequent. Under the infl uence of the category of colloquiality in the digital environment, the phonetic level of written communication begins to form, which characterizes the uniqueness of the Internet space from the point of view of linguistics. The new linguistic phenomena are not just isolated or accidental, but are systemic, as they manifest themselves at every linguistic level. This allows us to draw conclusions about the inevitability of the future transformation of the Russian literary language and its historically established norms, since the language will have to ensure communication of the digital society.
