NOTES ON HISTORICAL GRAMMAR: ARCHAISMS AND INNOVATIONS IN THE MACHINE-READABLE PARIMEINIK CORPUS FROM THE 12th–14th CENTURIES
Abstract:
This article deals with rare or unique archaic and innovative forms of numerals, nouns and adjectives found in machine-readable Internet editions of the Parimeinik from the manuscripts of the 12th–14th centuries. The paper analyzes the forms found in the manuscripts of the Ancient type and of three early redactions — Zakhariinskaia, Kozminskaia, and Semenovskaia — gen. sg. desѧtьmь, nom.-acc. osmi, gen. sg.in -oga, early examples of the numeral devѧnosъto, the forms of the compound numerals ‘11–19’, ‘30’, ‘40’, the form četyrei, confusion and contamination of the forms of the instr. sg. and dat. pl., unifi cation of stems in the direct and indirect cases after the loss of the ‘reduced’ yers, nom.-acc. glazi. The forms discussed in the article have either not yet come to the attention of researchers, or require new interpretation. The colophon of the scribe in Kozminski Parimeinik from 1312–1313, which contains many interesting linguistic peculiarities, is published in the article. The observations made by the author prove the necessity of publishing the manuscript heritage and its further study.
