Abstract:

The article presents the multimedia corpus being created “The Lives of the Russian XX century New Martyrs and Confessors of the Moscow Diocese”. We have chosen this material because the life (especially the life of the new martyrs and confessors) is one of the most important, but little-studied (and not studied at all by specialists in corpus linguistics) genres of modern Russian literature. The corpus includes 341 texts (approximately 390,000 word usages). The work is carried out with the help of an automated system for working with texts and dictionaries “Dictum”. The corpus will be a concordance — linguists will be able to analyze not only lexemes with frequency, but also contexts. An important function of the corpus is a system for searching for lexemes and word forms by types of information posted in passports, as well as the possibility of crossing different types of information. A theological commentary on the texts is also needed. The work on the allocation of six lexico-semantic fi elds in the vocabulary of the lives (church vocabulary; sovietisms; compound words with hyphenated spelling; abbreviations; proper names — personal names and geographical names; kinship terms and lexemes denoting family relationships) has almost been completed; compound words with hyphe nated spelling; abbreviations; proper names — personal names and geographical names; kinship terms and lexemes denoting family relationships). The work on the distribution of words across lexico-semantic fi elds involves working with ambiguity. The analysis of lexicosemantic groups involves, in particular, consideration of such issues as: how many and what kind of people a particular name, patronymic designates; derivation; renaming of toponyms. Each text will be accompanied by “illustrative material”. The case will be equipped with the function of copying the received data into a text fi le. Each text will be provided with a complete bibliographic description. An electronic shell for presenting the results has also been developed.
