PRONUNCIATION FEATURES OF CONSONANT GROUPS IN THE MODERN RUSSIAN LITERARY LANGUAGE: NORM AND USAGE (the case of combinations -stk-, -stn-, -sts)
Abstract:
The study is devoted to the study of the pronunciation of consonant groups in the modern Russian literary language using combinations -stk-, -stn- as a case study. The paper uses the principle of a ‘factorial’ approach: on the basis of experimental data we determined the factors infl uencing the distribution of variants when simplifying groupsof consonants -stk- and -stn-. When composing the experiment, both linguistic (strong and weak prosodic position of the word, morphemic composition of words, frequency of use of the word, attribution of vocabulary to the professional or household sphere of use, word length) and sociolinguistic factors (age of the respondent, communicative situation) were taken into account. The aim of the study was to establish a correlation between the pronunciation features of the declared consonant combinations and the factors infl uencing it. The data obtained as a result of the experiment were compared with the results of studies conducted earlier (in the middle of the XX century) and with the norm recorded in orthoepic dictionaries.
