NAME OF TOAD IN THE SLAVIC DIALECTS (AREALOGICAL ASPECT)

The article deals with the analyses of the Slavic dialect nominations of toad. The areas of unequal spatial localization are revealed. We established various methods of nomination (one-word and descriptive constructions). The models by which two-component names are constructed are determined, the semantic relations between the components are revealed. Word-forming and lexical exclusives are considered as an expression of a striking feature of all the Slavic dialects — its dynamism. We indicated the reasons for appearance of exclusives (single nominations) in the dialects of the Slavic languages. There is a diff erent degree of concentration of exclusives in the dialects of diff erent language groups. More complex picture of dialect diff erentiation of South and West Slavic languages in comparison with East ones is revealed.
