Abstract:

The presented dictionary was compiled by a prominent Russian dialectologist, RAS corresponding member S. A. Myznikov. The dictionary is a systematic description of the borrowed vocabulary recorded in the Russian dialects of the contact regions. Most of the dialectal material is of Finno-Ugric origin, but Baltisms, Turkisms and borrowings from other languages a re also represented according to lexicographic publications, card indexes for dialect dictionaries, as well as according to the author’s own notes. A signifi- cant part of the analyzed lexical materials previously did not fall into the field of vision of etymologists. The dictionary contains an etymological analysis of about 18 thousand words. The dictionary is intended for linguists, dialectologists, etymologists, as well as for a wide range of people interested in the history and origin of words of their native language, Russian language and linguistic contacts.
