Leonid Leonidovich Kasatkin is a remarkable Russian linguist, an expert in Russian phonetics, a prominent representative of the Moscow dialectological school, one of the authors of the “Dialectological Atlas of the Russian Language”. The range of scientific research of the scientist is extremely wide: Russian dialectology, history of language, phonetics, phonology, orthoepy, graphics and orthography. The article describes the scientific heritage of L.L. Kasatkin in the field of Russian dialectology.
