Abstract:

The article describes the syntax and semantics of the genitive constructions with a quantitative value in the South Russian dialect. The analysis is based on the transcribed texts recorded in Rogovatoye village, Starooskolsky district, Belgorod region. All nonnegative constructions with quantitative genitive are considered. The following cases are illustrated: the genitive with numerals, quantitative and pronominal words (dva kolhoza, mnogo kolhozov), nouns with the meaning of quantity, totality, plurality (stog sena, butylka moloka), transitive verbs (kupit’ hleba), as well as structurally conditioned forms, a component of the structural scheme of the sentence (Narozhaetsja devok. Narodu!). It is shown that in the South Russian dialect genitive quantitative designs differ little from the standard language: the dialect shows the same model as in the literary language, but there are slight variations in the coordination of subject and predicate, the lexical content of the constructions with quantifiers.
