Abstract:

In versification studies it is still necessary to explore rap in general and the Ukrainian rap in particular, although its structure is similar to that of accentual verse. Using the example of A. Sidorenko’s (‘Fozzy’) musical pieces, this article considers the features of rap based on delivery of text in a recitative manner over a rhythm of musical beat that is set by drums. In rap each line of a poetic text falls on a separate musical bar. The application of the prosodic techniques of rhythm analysis to the rap verse has shown that rap texts are typologically identical to the literary verse — taktovik, although their rhythm units do not coincide. The results of the research allow considering from a different angle the Russian versification theories of taktovik originated on a musical basis.
