LEXICAL-SEMANTIC AND SOCIO-CULTURAL SPECIFICITY OF RUSSIAN SPEECH OF GRODNO (ON THE MATERIAL OF MEDIA TEXTS)

We describe the linguistic phenomena that reflect the socio-cultural situation of Grodno: expansion of the new vocabulary in the Post-Soviet period on the one hand, and preservation of sovietisms and official style collocations on the other hand. We analyze the usage of slang vocabulary in newspaper texts, reflect- ing the journalists’ to be closer to the reader. We investigate inaccurate and non-standard word usage and non-standard compatibilities in collocations.
